Ready-to-Wear
The Chinoy (‘chee-noy’), slang in Tagalog for Filipino people of Chinese descent. The New Chinoy Barong is a VINTA signature cut, and is one of our best selling barongs. It has a fully open button up front and a micro Mandarin collar. Slim cut and easy to wear, this modern classic is always flattering. This Barong also has a relaxed cuff-less sleeve.
Made from jusi (silk-poly blend) and hand-dyed black, these barongs are meticulously hand-manipulated machine embroidered in-house, with a stunning new Tayabak (Jade Vine) motif illustrated by our in-house artist AlagaAtSining.
The only place in the world that the Jade Vine (Strongylodon macrobotrys) grows natively is in the tropical rainforests of the Philippines, where it is called Tayabak. As a result of deforestation on the islands, the Tayabak is considered an endangered species, making this flower very rare and special.
Also known as the emerald creeper, this impressive vine flower ranges in colour from aquamarine to luminous jade to electric blue with indigo. The flower hangs in trusses consisting of as many as 75 flowers that looks like a luminous jade claw-shaped blooms or folded up butterflies on the vine and its impressive colour is absolutely breathtaking. It is pollinated by a special kind of bat that hangs upside down to reach the nectar.
Each New Chinoy Barong is handcrafted by the VINTA Gallery Team in our atelier in the Philippines.
